Legal, Terms, & Privacy

These are Agassiz Publishing’s (“AP”, “we”, “us”) website terms, privacy notes, and other legal housekeeping. They explain how you may use our site and content, how we handle personal information, and what to do if there’s an IP issue. Last updated: September 17, 2025.

Copyright & use of our content. Except where we clearly say otherwise, everything on this site (text, images, video, audio, design) is © Agassiz Publishing or our licensors. You may quote short excerpts for review, commentary, education, research, or news reporting with customary attribution; other uses (including copying images, translating pages, or training models) require written permission. Public‑domain or Creative Commons items—when present—are labeled in‑line; follow the label’s terms.

Third‑party intellectual property. Book covers, photographs, illustrations, author portraits, and trademarks appearing here may belong to their respective owners and are used under license or fair dealing. Nothing on this site grants you a license to those rights without permission from the owner.

Submissions & unsolicited ideas. We do not accept or review unsolicited manuscripts through this site. Please send proposals only via our designated channels when announced. Unsolicited materials may be deleted unread. Do not send confidential information to us via public forms; we cannot agree to non‑disclosure obligations for unrequested submissions.

Privacy (BC PIPA & PIPEDA in short). We collect only the personal information needed to operate this site and reply to you (for example, contact‑form details or newsletter preferences). In British Columbia, private‑sector privacy is governed by the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). If our activities involve interprovincial or international commercial transactions, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) may also apply. You may request access to, or correction of, your personal information in our control. We keep information only as long as necessary, safeguard it appropriately, and never sell it.

Email & newsletters (CASL compliance). We send commercial electronic messages only with express or valid implied consent, include our identifying information, and provide a working unsubscribe link in every message. If you unsubscribe, we stop within the required time. If you forward us a third‑party email list, we will not use it without proper consent.

Cookies & analytics. We use strictly necessary cookies to run the site and may use basic analytics to understand aggregated usage (for example, page views). You can control cookies in your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect site functionality. We do not use cookies to show you third‑party behavioral ads.

Children. Our site is intended for adults. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information without a parent/guardian’s consent, please contact us so we can delete it.

Accessibility. We aim for accessible experiences and work toward WCAG 2.1 AA‑aligned practices. If you encounter a barrier (missing alt text, contrast issues, inaccessible downloads), please let us know and we’ll provide an accessible alternative where possible.

Links & third‑party services. We may link to external websites or embed third‑party services (for example, video players or bookstores). Those services have their own terms and privacy rules. We are not responsible for their content or practices; use them at your own discretion.

Notice of alleged copyright infringement (Canada’s “notice‑and‑notice”). If you believe material on our site infringes your copyright, send us a notice describing the work and the specific URL on our site. We will review and respond under Canada’s notice‑and‑notice framework. Please do not send automated or incomplete claims.

Disclaimers. This site is provided “as is” for general information about our authors, books, and company. While we aim for accuracy, we cannot guarantee completeness, timeliness, or error‑free content. Nothing here is professional advice (legal, medical, financial, or otherwise). Use the site at your own risk.

Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, AP and our directors, officers, employees, and contractors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of this site. If we are found liable despite this paragraph, our total liability will not exceed CAD $100 or the amount you paid us for the specific service or digital item, whichever is greater.

Trademarks. AGASSIZ PUBLISHING™ and other names, logos, and designs on this site are trademarks or trade dress of AP or our affiliates. Third‑party marks are the property of their respective owners.

Changes to these terms. We may update this page from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
